I may just collapse into myself. Since I’m back, I keep on:
- converting everything into Philippine pesos, which means everything feels too expensive. The other day I had a P500 meal, which is ludicrous because you could feed at least six people with that amount.
- putting my a/c onto the highest level, as well as calling it air-con.
- forgetting to put my seatbelt on.
- realizing how really different the world is, because over there I felt more in contact with the world than I do here. I don’t think I’ve spoken more than 100 words in Bisaya since I came back.
I feel like I’m forgetting, when I’m in the US I’m covered by some sort of first-world country amnesia that isn’t concerned with anything else besides itself. I’ve missed the people here terribly, and although I’m happy to see them, I don’t like being back.
